YOGA WORKSHOP

Today we gather to celebrate International Yoga Day, a day dedicated to physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Yoga, an ancient practice from India, teaches us harmony, balance, and inner peace. In a world filled with stress, yoga gives us clarity and strength. Let us make today the beginning of a healthier lifestyle by practicing even a few minutes of yoga every day. Thank you.”

Yoga Day was observed at NSS College, Ottapalam with great enthusiasm by the M. Ed First Year students. The programme , held in the Conference Hall, began with a brief introduction on the importance of yoga in promoting physical, mental, and emotional well-being. A trained instructor demonstrated simple breathing exercises and basic asanas that students could easily practice daily to reduce stress and improve concentration.

Students actively participated in the session and expressed that it was refreshing and beneficial amidst their academic schedule. The event helped create awareness about incorporating yoga into everyday life for better health and inner balance. The programme concluded with a collective meditation, marking a calm and positive end to the Yoga Day celebration.

YOGA WORKSHOP

                YOGA WORKSHOP

A weeklong Yoga Workshop was conducted by NSS Training College, Ottapalam, from 10th November to 14th November 2025 for the M.Ed Batch 2025–27 at the PG Block. The programme was inaugurated by Principal-in-Charge Prof. (Dr.) Smitha R, who emphasized the importance of integrating yoga into daily life to enhance both physical and mental well-being.

The workshop was led by Prof. (Dr.) Seema Menon K. P., an experienced yoga teacher and evaluator. Over the course of five days, participants engaged in a variety of activities, including warm-up exercises, different yogasanas, various types of pranayama, and guided meditation sessions.

Special sessions were conducted to explore the connection between yoga and mental health. These discussions highlighted how regular yoga practice helps reduce stress, improve mood, and promote emotional balance. The physical health benefits of yoga were also addressed, such as increased flexibility, improved posture, and enhanced respiratory health.

Participants were introduced to different types of pranayama, and the benefits of each — including calming the mind, increasing lung capacity, and boosting overall vitality — were clearly explained. The interactive nature of the workshop encouraged active involvement and created a supportive and positive learning environment.

The weeklong programme was well-received by the participants, who appreciated the expertise of the resource person and found the sessions both informative and rejuvenating. The workshop concluded with a feedback session, during which many participants expressed a renewed commitment to incorporating yoga into their daily routines.
